Now that your voice is trained, let's create your first message with ColdCheck. This guide will walk you through the process step by step.
ColdCheck doesn't write generic templates: it writes in your voice based on your intent. You tell ColdCheck what you want to say, and it will craft it the way you would say it.
Click New Message from your dashboard
You'll see two main options: Email or LinkedIn Message
Email is best for:
Professional correspondence
Detailed explanations
Formal or semi-formal communication
Messages that need structure
LinkedIn Message is best for:
Networking and introductions
Shorter, platform-appropriate messages
Professional but conversational tone
Connection requests or follow-ups
Pick the format that matches where you'll send the message.
This is the most important step. Your intent is what you want to communicate: the substance of your message.
Think of your intent as notes to yourself. Include:
The goal of the message
Example: "Follow up on our meeting about the Q4 project"
Key points you want to make
Example: "Confirm timeline, ask about budget, offer to send proposal"
Any specific details or context
Example: "Mention we discussed starting in November"
The relationship or tone
Example: "Friendly but professional; we've worked together before"
For a follow-up email:
Following up on our coffee chat yesterday about the redesign project.
Want to send over the proposal we discussed and confirm the March
timeline works. Ask if they need anything else from me.
For a LinkedIn introduction:
Reaching out because we both work in product design and I loved their
recent post about user research. Want to connect and maybe chat about
their approach to stakeholder interviews.
For a project update:
Quick update to the team that the API integration is done ahead of
schedule. Next step is testing, starting Monday. Ask if anyone has
questions before we move forward.
You don't need to:
Write in complete sentences (bullet points are fine)
Use proper grammar in your intent
Write how you want it to sound (that's ColdCheck's job)
Include greetings or sign-offs (we'll add those in your style)
Enter your intent in the text box
Press Return/Enter OR Click Generate Message
Wait a few seconds while ColdCheck writes it
ColdCheck will generate a complete message that:
Covers all the points from your intent
Sounds like you wrote it yourself
Includes appropriate greetings and closings
Matches the tone of your writing samples
Once generated, you can:
Use it as-is if it's perfect
Edit it to tweak specific parts
Regenerate if you want a different approach
Copy it to paste into your email or LinkedIn
Feel free to make small tweaks! ColdCheck gets you 90% there, but you might want to:
Add a specific detail you forgot to mention
Adjust a phrase for the specific recipient
Include a last-minute update
The goal is to save you time, not remove your personal touch entirely.
Be specific in your intent - More detail = better output
Mention the relationship if it affects tone - "This is a cold outreach" vs. "Following up with a colleague"
Include key facts or numbers that need to be accurate
Try different intents if the first result isn't quite right
Q: How long should my intent be? A: Anywhere from a sentence to a paragraph. More detail helps, but you don't need to write an essay.
Q: Can I generate multiple versions? A: Yes! Click regenerate to get a different take on the same intent.
Q: What if it doesn't sound exactly like me? A: Check out our Understanding Voice Matching guide to learn why, and Tips for Better Results for how to improve your output.
